Face Lotion- An easy DIY to help you Revamp Your Beauty Routine!

I began to revamp my beauty routine with a bang and my wallet is pretty happy!

I switched out my store-bought makeup remover with my homemade version first and my second goal was to replace my face lotion.  After researching what different essential oils can do for your face and knowing that I wanted to create a lotion to assist in reducing wrinkles and brightening my skin, I decided to include Frankincense, Lemon, Lavender, and Carrot Seed oil.

I made two different face creams because I wanted to make sure to include lemon essential oil.  Lemon essential oil contains limomene and works amazingly well at cleansing, combating acne, and reducing wrinkles.  The reason why it’s not in both face lotions?  It’s photosensitive so you must be cautious when applying this to any skin that will be in direct sunlight.  That pretty much rules out my face during the day, so this oil went into my night cream.

For both recipes, slightly melt your shea butter so it blends smoothly with your coconut oil.  I place my shea butter in a glass bowl nestled inside a pot of water on my stove since I don’t have a double boiler.   You don’t need your shea butter to be liquid…just soft enough to mix.  Mix the two in a mixer for a few minutes until it’s light and fluffy.  It should like like frosting when it’s ready.  If it doesn’t, make sure it’s at room temperature.  You may need to let it sit for a bit.  Add your oils in last and mix well.  Store in an airtight, glass container and you’re done!
